We are pleased to announce that Exeter College Apprenticeship team will be visiting the Business Park again on the 23rd of May 2019. Following the success of their first visit back in January we are giving you another opportunity to meet the team and to discuss how an apprenticeship scheme could help your business.

Is recruitment a key thing for you this year? Do you want to attract new, diverse talent to your business? Do you have existing staff who you would like to reward with formal accredited training? Would you like to develop your staff for the future of your business by offering industry relevant qualifications?

If you answered yes to any of the above then apprenticeships could be the way forward so please read on.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Fresh talent – Every business needs new ideas to keep growing, and new people to generate and execute these new ideas. Young people bring new energy to any business; they’re keen to learn and keen to try out new ideas.

New skills – Because they’re being trained now, apprentices will learn skills that might not currently be used in the workplace: bringing new knowledge to the businesses that take them on.

WHAT IS AN APPRENTICE?

An Apprentice is someone aged 16+ (there is no upper age limit to doing an apprenticeship programme it really is a training opportunity for ALL) who completes a government funded training programme leading to nationally recognised qualifications. An Apprentice attends Exeter College one day a week and is assigned a skills officer who makes monthly visits to the workplace to conduct assessments and progress reviews with you and your Apprentice.

WHAT WILL THE APPRENTICE LEARN?

An apprenticeship involves work-related and transferable skills as well as hands-on experience. The underpinning knowledge skills will be covered at College and Functional skills in English and Maths if required.

WILL IT COST THE BUSINESS ANYTHING?

Apprenticeships are government funded programmes aimed at anyone aged 16+, costs are dependent on the size of your business and whether or not you pay into the apprenticeship levy. We can tell you more on this and the incentives that could be available to you.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE?

The time it takes to complete depends on the course and the level – next steps can be discussed.

I AM INTERESTED – WHAT DO I DO NEXT?

Exeter College will be visiting all employers on the Greendale Business Park on Friday the 23rd of May 2019, for an informal chat about your requirements and give you some information on what they do.

They will be able to answer any questions and then book you in for a more formal 1-2-1 meeting in a couple of weeks if you would like to move forward.
